Druid Circle for 5e
Root and old masonry come up through the floor when this druid calls for them, and what comes up can swing. That's the Guardian of Ruin. It costs a Bonus Action and a use of Wild Shape. For the next ten minutes it guards the back line with its Reaction, and anyone standing near it has Half Cover.
At 10th level a Guardian that gets knocked down still does some work on the way out, collapsing into a Restrained rider, and the druid gets one free raise a day. By 14 the ground underfoot hardly matters. Whether it's soil or flagstone or the floor of a hall, the ruin comes up through it.
