Bard College for 5e
A lot of tables have a little pile of Bardic Inspiration dice that never gets rolled, because everyone is saving theirs for a better moment. College of Lullabies is built to get that pile moving. Its engine is Refrain, which hands failed Inspiration dice back, and once a failed die comes back, holding on to it stops making much sense.
The songs themselves are cradle songs, sung on a battlefield. One action shields your side and slows theirs down. At 14th level the First Cradle changes the question a fight is asking, and it becomes a matter of who sleeps and who is made whole.
